California-based and globally-minded, the Soulection collective will soon be broadcasting its regular radio show on Apple Music's Beats 1 Radio. The news was announced by the label and show's co-founder Joe Kay during the most recent episode of Soulection's mixtape-style broadcast, which in recent years has been hosted on Soundcloud. "If you guys know me, you know it's hard for me to hold in things like this, but I've been sitting on this for a minute," Kay said, before thanking his labelmates and collaborators.

The move to Beats 1 is the latest step up for a collective whose rise been near-meteoric. Soulection began as nothing more than a weekly radio program, with Kay spinning his favorite music on California State University's KBeach radio. From there, the program relocated to Europe-based Rinse FM, but has most recently been broadcasting through Soundcloud. Once the transition to Beats 1 takes place, Soulection Radio will join a wide array of high-profile hosts including Dr. Dre, Drake, Pharrell and St. Vincent.. Kay shouted out Beats 1's flagship DJ Zane Lowe, clearly brimming with pride as he noted that Soulection will now be broadcasted in over 100 countries across the billion-plus Apple devices that are currently used worldwide.

"I'm not changing the format, I'm not changing the show. I'm still going to be the same, doing what we already do," Kay said. "We're just taking this on a bigger scale." The new Soulection show will be cut down from its current three hour format to a slimmer 2 hour size and air on Saturday evenings. Kay made the announcement at roughly the 24 minute mark of the latest Soulection radio show, which you can listen to in full below. Also--it's full of fantastic music.
