Prince Paul, Ladybug Mecca & Don Newkirk Form Brookzill! Supergroup

Over the years (30 of them for that matter) Prince Paul has proven to be hip-hop’s consummate collaborator. His early work with De La Soul alone is enough to earn him that rarified space in the culture. Since then, he’s put together projects with the likes of everyone Handsome Boy Modeling School (2004’s White People) to experimental legends like Bernie Worrell and David Byrne (2007’s Turn My Teeth Up!.)

Today he announces the formation of yet another supergroup, this time joining forces with the Digable Planets’ Ladybug Mecca, voice-over king and key player Don Newkirk (who can be heard alongside Paul on De La’s 3 Feet High And Rising) and vocalist Rodrigo Brandão, dubbing themselves Brookzill!. The quartet is slated to release three mixtapes over the next few months, eyeing October for the release of their full-length debut Throwback To The Future. They’ve released their first tape today, and it’s available for you to hear down below.

With so many brilliant music minds in the fold, there’s a whole lot to look forward to in the months ahead. But you can get your first taste today. Stream the teaser tape from Prince Paul’s new crew and hold tight for their next transmission.
