Premiere: Masta Ace Takes A Look Around His Old Hood In 'Story Of Me'

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

In the Okayplayer premiere of his new music video “Story of Me,” Masta Ace gives viewers a look into his formative years and revisits a locale that many longterm fans may be familiar with.

The video sees Ace (with featured artists Pearl Gates and Denez Prigent) going back to the Brownsville, Brooklyn neighborhood Ace grew up in. But also, for the first time since 1990, Ace revisited the Coney Island locale where the cover of his album Take A Look Around (Cold Chillin’) was photographed.

“[Director Alex Frantz Ghassan] and his team did a tremendous job showing Brownsville and CI in a way they have never been seen before,” Masta Ace said. “The beauty of the shots and my spiritual connection to the locations make this arguably the best video I have ever released.”
