OKP News: President Barack Obama’s Spotify Playlist

Yes, you have read correctly: POTUS Barack Hussein Obama has released a 28-track Spotify playlist for America (full listing after the jump, Spotify users get audio here). I am not going to over-analyse what is clearly a reflection of diversity-training brainstorm sessions amongst the re-elecation campaigners, not of Obama’s actual tastes. I am pretty sure what Spotify gave Obama in return for this incredible bump (the government should not pick winners in the digital music industry!) is detailed, demographically parsed data about American listening habits, broken right down to the most-played songs in key voting districts in the swing states of Ohio, Michigan and Florida. But two things jump out: 1) no rap? Isn’t this the president who has a “Jay-Z” button on the Presidential red phone? 2) Okayplayer represent! We knew he liked Al Green but in addition to respected soul legends like Aretha Franklin and Booker T. & The MGs, Obama messes with Raphael Saadiq & Ledisi, too. I am by no means suggesting that the POTUS actually spends time on OKP engaging in music discovery. But lets just say maybe he is taking notes from some key tastemakers (see above).

01 No Doubt – “Different People”
02 Earth Wind & Fire Experience feat. Al McKay Allstars – “Got To Get You Into My Life – (Live)”
03 Booker T. & The MG’s – “Green Onions – Single/LP Version”
04 Wilco – “I Got You”
05 The Impressions – “Keep On Pushing – Single Version”

I think this is AWESOME! Love that Barack has a Spotify playlist. He has some good stuff on there! If you’re looking for new music to add to your playlists, be sure to catch the third single from Future’s debut album, “Pluto”! The single is called “Magic” ft. T.I. and you can check out the video here: http://bit.ly/wC4slX It’s also available on iTunes if you end up needing to have it!: http://bit.ly/ABmnJ0

This list is obviously made to cater the wider audience, having a lil bit of everything. If he was a big a music fan that he states, he would have a few hundreds songs on there.
If hes black or white doesnt matter, hes a politician at heart
