OKP News: 5th Annual Roots Picnic Announced!

UPDATE: New artists have been added to the line-up for The 5th annual Roots Picnic–including OKP favs Quadron and rap legend Rakim, performing the all-time classic LP Paid In Full–in full! See updated poster art above for complete deets on the two-day musical onslaught.

Ring. Ding. Dong! Wake the town and tell the people, The Roots have announced the line-up for the 5th annual Roots Picnic. In this corner: The Roots, Kid Cudi, De La Soul (backed by The Roots!), Wale, Major Lazer, Diplo, St. Vincent, The Tune-Yards, Danny Brown, Shabazz Palaces, Moosh & Twist, Flosstradamus, Stretch Armstrong, The Hood Internet, Star Slinger, Mr. MFN Exquire, Kids These Days, Chill Moody, DJ Diamond Kuts and hold up–we’re gonna need some more stages.

It’s all going off on June 2nd and 3rd at the festival pier at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, PA. If the names printed above are not incentive enough, you may recall some of the mind-bendingly good performances that happened last year. We do.

Now, here’s the important bit: Tickets will be available in an exclusive pre-sale offer tomorrow, Thursday March 15th, from 10 am-10pm. To take advantage, go to Ticketmaster via the links below and use the password “picnic” to get tickets for Saturday, Sunday or a specially-priced 2-day pass. (And for Philly residents: tickets are service-charge free at the TLA box office on South St.)

Do tickets go on sale today or tomorrow? Ticketmaster says they go on sale tomorrow, but Saturday and Sunday’s tickets became available at 10am today.

Hey, there is no pre-sale on either Ticketmaster or Live Nation. They both say that tickets for all shows go on sale tomorrow 3/16/12. Please let us know, or add a new link to the pre-sale? Dying for these. Thanks!

  As I understand it, all should be available for the special pre-sale offer starting at 10am (ie 30 mins ago) with the password, and then officially on sale to the general public starting tomorrow…we’ll doublecheck and update as we get the info from mgmt

What’s the deal with the presale? Any word on whether it’s up and running for the 2-day passes? Seems like they aren’t available…

I also can’t access the pre-sale– can’t find where to put in the password. are other people having this problem too? Any suggestions as to how to input the password would be very helpful.

  To everybody who had issues with the pre-sale links, pls note, it appears that they should be sorted out now. Here’s what we were told:
  
  “for the first 20 minutes there were issues with the password, but its since been resolved. If people try to hop on now, they shouldn’t have any issues.”

If you guys look at Ticketmaster, the lineups for each day are shown, as well as the times for each day (notice Sunday starts at 5 and when Kid Cudi and Major Lazer are apparently playing).

Not sure if that means what we’re thinking, but it could… Doesn’t explain the prices though…

I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get a media pass to shoot pictures of the event for one of the days. I have posted a link to pictures from last year’s Summer 618 at Festival Pier which I took pictures of. Any pictures I take could be used by you for whatever purposes you wish.
