Both Kendrick Lamar and Bilal joined soul composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge to perform a brand new song entitled “Money Over Love” live in Los Angeles Friday night at the Regent Theater. The performance came amidst Younge’s high-profile launch concert for Linear Labs, his own newly-founded record label.
At least three short clips of the new Lamar/Bilal collab have found their way onto the internet, and from what can be discerned “Money Over Love” features a roving funk backbeat and positively vicious rhyming from Kendrick, who was also seen vibing back and forth while Bilal crooned on a softer, separate section. The song will be on Bilal’s forthcoming In Another Life LP (due June 30th). Suffice it to say we’re happy to see Lamar and Bilal pooling their talents beyond their past To Pimp A Butterfly collaborations. Enjoy the brief tastes of “Money Over Love” below and keep an eye out for more.
