J Dilla "Diamonds & Ice"
While we wait on the release of the long lost J Dilla vocal album, The Diary, to drop, we get some more mixed and mastered goodness. Today, we get half of the second single "Diamonds & Ice," which will be out in full in the form of a 7-track 12 inch EP on August 27th (pre-order). Long before the release of Dilla's posthumous album, The Shinning, Jay Dee titled these two track "The Shining pt.1" and "The Shining Pt.2," "Diamonds (The Shining Pt.1)" was produced by Nottz, while "Ice (The Shining Pt.2)" was produced by Madlib, and both songs leaked years ago in low quality unmastered formats. These new versions are both final and alternate mixes, straight from the mixed-down masters that Dilla created himself. The Diamonds & Ice EP contains two markedly different versions of "Ice." The EP also includes a Madlib instrumental entitled "The D." For now, listen to a stream of the final version of "Diamonds (The Shining Pt.1)."
