Guardians of the Galaxy was a pleasant surprise as one of Marvel's most successful films, and a teaser trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 seems to capture the same feel viewers fell in love with in 2014.

In the teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the crew of space heroes is back: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel portrayed the original Groot, who died in the first film, though Diesel still appears in credits for the sequel). The two-minute clip sees them fighting in spaceships, wielding laser blasters, taking on huge monsters, and engaging in the same type of hilarious banter that made the first film such a surprise hit. The teaser trailer doesn't reveal much about the plot of the movie, but the vibe is still intact - and it looks like Baby Groot is going to steal the show.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy film in 2014 had an ensemble cast of actors, but success wasn't as predictable because it didn't have the star power of Marvel heroes like Spider-Man, Iron-Man or Captain America.

Still, the film carved its own niche with a quirky, darker sense of humor and still packed in the action that is expected with superhero flicks. Fans rewarded the risk: Guardians of the Galaxy grossed $773.7 million worldwide and was the highest-grossing superhero film of the year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for a theater release in May 2017.
