Fisher Fish Over Premier
And to think, this one almost slipped by. D.I.T.C. up-and-comer Fisher unwrapped one of the best gifts an MC could ever hope for late last month--a certifiably tough beat from none other than DJ Premier. Built of a tender piano smaple, gliding bass, bone dry drums and the textbook scratches that Preemo is known for, the track Fisher got a hold of sounds like something straight out of '95, and the MC delivered with the final product. "Fish Over Premier" is one of the truest true-school revivals we've heard in quite some time. Anyone who's complaining that the golden days are lost just need to up their search game.
And be sure you listen all the way through, because things truly blossom in the final seconds, as Premier flips the script and Fisher rides a wave of grade-A rhymes, repping his city, his crew and himself. The Bronx rapper has been putting up a steady stream of indie rap via SoundCloud, and it's now officially time that we all take proper heed.
