Erykah Badu Shares Her Artistic Philosophy On 'The Breakfast Club,' Jay Electronica Crashes The Set

Erykah Badu Sounds Off On 'The Breakfast Club'

Damn it feels good to have Erykah Badu back in the world. Suppose she never left, what with her @fatbellybella Twitter handle being something of a focal point of social media fodder. With her anxiously-anticipated But You Caint Use My Phone mixtape arriving just in time to score your Black Friday shenanigans, Badula has been present and visible as ever. Case in point: a revealing and rare 35-minute sit-down with The Breakfast Club this morning, where Badu dished-out some gems on her artistic philosophy, how she and her all-star roster of exes maintain their fondness for one another, the infamous "Window Seat" video and what inspires her in 2015 (think: Fred Flintstone, Bugs Bunny and the like.)

Sure, there were some uncomfortable moments, particularly when discussing the ways the industry can impose its will upon an artist and the subsequent studio crashing by one Jay Electronica, but for the most part, Badu was as candid as you'd hope, freewheeling her way through one of daytime talk-radio's most contentious crews. I mean, Charlemagne alone can make you cringe at his worst. But at his most cordial, the Breakfast Club ringleader is as direct and cutting as any top-tier journalist in the game. And Jay Elec was there to make sure he was on his best behavior. Watch as Erykah Badu chops it up on The Breakfast Club down below and hold tight, You Caint Use My Phone hits the internets with force this Friday, November 27th.
