Erykah Badu is back in rare form in a new self-directed iPhone film, which finds the singer fulfilling her longtime dream of singing for money on the streets of New York City. Never one to shy away from public performance (see: “Window Seat”) she sets up shop in Times Square with some help from key grip Carl Jones, unleashes her unmistakable vocal and has a good bit of fun with passersby; things start out a little rough, but eventually E. Badu starts caking. True to form, however, most of the New Yorkers she encounters rush by totally unfazed. Armed with enough money for a sorbet she decides to pack it up but not before serving up a barrage of hilarious captions and singing about her deep-seated desire to avoid getting a real job.
