On August 12th, Erykah Badu will descend upon Detroit's Chene Park Amphitheater and bring all of the feels with her. But this won't be just another day in the park with Miss Sara Bellum. According to Detroit Free Pressthe soul star will donate 5% of each ticket to the African American 490 Challengea Motor City initiative that strives to test the thousands of abandoned rape kits that were discovered in a Detroit Police Department storage unit, each of which represents an unspeakable crime.

The initiative is partnered with Enough SAID, a collaborative commission between Michigan Women's Foundation, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and the Detroit Crime Commission, seeking to test the thousand or so remaining kits and begin the investigations into who committed those crimes. We're happy to know that Erykah Badu will be doing her part. If you'd like to make a contribution to AA490, hit the link below. For tickets to the Detroit performance, head over to Ticketmaster now.
