Elvis Costello and The Roots - Wise Up Ghost Track list

Questlove reveals 14 song track list from the Elvis Costello and The Roots LP Wise Up Ghost announced back at the end of May of this year. From @questlove‘s instagram:

“Guess What Just Got Mastered Kids? The New #WiseUpGhost by Elvis Costello & The Roots. Gotta say this sounds incredible!”

The album currently has a release date of September 17th on Blue Note Records. As previously reported, Quest has described the record as “a moody, brooding affair” full of “cathartic rhythms and dissonant lullabies” adding “I went stark and dark on the music, Elvis went HAM on some ole Ezra Pound shit.” In a statement, Costello nebulously described the album as “the shortest distance between here and there,” saying it contains “both rhythm and what is ready.”

Apparently some unlabeled test pressings were released on Record Store Day but no music has surfaced online yet. Elvis Costello and The Roots first came together on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for a performance of Bruce Springsteen’s song “Fire” during LNWJF‘s “#SpringsteenWeek.”   They also worked together for a Prince tribute concert at Carnegie Hall back in March. The album’s track list is so far reported as follows:

Songs without at least 1 Black Thought verse need to contain an asterisk or something. It’s unfair to me to have me wait and wait for a verse that may or may not even exist from my favorite emcee of all time. I just heard “walk us uptown” and it was a perfect track for Tariq to destroy, but sadly he did not make an appearance on the songs. I feel like I was lied too haha. The Roots are my favorite band of all time and Black Thoufht is my favorite rapper of all time, but the Roots aren’t the Roots to me if Black isn’t on the track. Just one fan’s opinion. Stay cool mothafuckas y’all know the rules….stay cool….
