OKP Premiere: BJ The Chicago Kid Transforms MGMT's "Electric Feel" Into Something Sweet & Soulful Live

By now, BJ The Chicago Kid should be a name you all know and well. The Midwestern music man has made that name through a litany of top-shelf features, including one-offs with Schoolboy Q, Freddie Gibbs and most recently Joey Bada$$. But BJ's recently released M.A.F.E. Project is where his solo work gets the opportunity to shines just as bright as his feature game, delivering ultra nostalgic cuts like "Soul Of A Woman" and "Good Karma." Today we have the pleasure of bringing you into his live repertoire with the premiere of an intimate, transformative take on MGMT's breakout single "Electric Feel," where The Chicago Kid and his finely tuned ensemble strip down the track into something sweeter and more soulful altogether; a highlight of his genre-smashing live set (that also happens to include a remarkable refix of MJ's "Rock With You" over the slow-burning groove from Teddy Pendergrass' "Love TKO.") The band keeps things perfectly simple, letting the six-string lead as BJ builds his vox from tender whisper to raspy roar, just before the clip cuts. You can watch the criminally short video of BJ The Chicago Kid and the band performing MGMT's "Electric Feel" live in rehearsal below, just be sure to grab your copy of BJ's The M.A.F.E Project for the low, low price of free ninety-nine via Soundcloud today.
