So, chances are you watched this past Saturday Night Live with the one and only Dave Chappelle serving as host. During his incredible opening monologue he talked about a party he attended at the White House that was hosted by BET, where everybody was black (except Bradley Cooper).
Well, looks like BET will be airing that event this week.
BET Networks joined President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House last month for an all star musical celebration, BET Presents Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration, playfully dubbed Barack Obama's Block Party.
Those festivities will be on full display tomorrow (November 15) on the cable and satellite television channel.
Hosted by Terrence J and Regina Hall, BET Presents Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration included performances by Usher; Common; Janelle Monae; Leslie Odom Jr.; The Roots; De La Soul; Jill Scott; Yolanda Adams; Bell Biv DeVoe; Michelle Williams and Kiki Sheard.
Actors Samuel L. Jackson; Angela Bassett; Bradley Cooper and Jesse Williams also participated in the event, sharing poignant and personal thoughts about President Obama and what his accomplishments have meant to them.
A trailer for the forthcoming TV special has been released, which shows Obama thanking BET, and inciting applause for everyone that is in attendance. He also gives a special shout out to Chappelle, saying "Where's Dave? You got your block party. I got my block party."
"Our country has been led for the past eight years by an extraordinary President and First Lady," Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET Networks, said in a statement. "We have all witnessed history in the making and I am humbled by this momentous opportunity for BET Networks to join the Obamas for this musical celebration."
BET Presents Love & Happiness: An Obama Celebration premieres Tuesday, November 15th at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST only on BET. Check out the trailer below.
