Andre 3000 Dissects The Coolness Of Jimi Hendrix & 'All Is By My Side' On The Late Show With David Letterman

Andre 3000 has gone to extraordinary lengths to emulate the infinite cool of six-string hero Jimi Hendrix in the recently released biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side. On a recent stop at David Letterman's late-night program, the eccentric artist spoke on how we prepared himself to step into brown leather boots of the true Purple Patriarch, why he's widely acknowledged as one of the most lauded performers to ever grace a stage and how he first discovered Jimi while watching Apocalypse Now.

While most Hendrix nuts already know a lot of the tales, 3 Stacks gave The Late Show audience a few of his own points reference for the film, namely the time he burned Eric Clapton in one of his very first UK performances, sending the English luminary off the stage in a fit of panic. He then jumps into the time that Jimi performed a high-voltage cut of The Beatles' "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" on the night of its release with an astonished Fab Four in hanging in the wings. All in all, Mr. Benjamin keeps is patently candid, winning over yet another audience. The Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is By My Side is out now in select theaters, so be sure to go and get a peek at Andre 3000 as the guitar gawd when the film makes its way to a big screen near you.
