OKP Premiere: Watch Aceyalone Spit Over Weird And Wild Visuals On New Single "Ghetto Blaster"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

It's true what he said--everything changes. Aceyalone has returned with a brand new sound and a brand new video, the first taste of his upcoming Action LP. "Ghetto Blaster" is a wickedly aggressive bit of dance rap that pairs wobbling bass and digitized snares--sounds you might not expect to hear from Aceyalone-- with the poetic and introverted waxing that has always been his forte. The beat was composed by Minneapolis producer/musician Bionik and is three minutes of high-octane electro tempered by pizzicato strings and faraway sirens. Bionik's dubstep-inspired sound is both new sonic territory for Aceyalone to explore and a shot in the arm that pushes him into some of the hardest raps he's ever laid to tape.

To match "Ghetto Blaster"'s collision of aggression and intellect, Okayplayer is proud to premiere its new video, produced by Wylie CableDome of Doom. The clip comes loaded with shots of Aceyalone in an ominous urban night scene, the skyline fading and flickering over his shoulder in the distance. Cut with these close-ups are stylized frames of boom boxes--more specifically, ghetto blasters--that come painted in bright bizarre colors and weird cryptic designs. The entire clip becomes jumbled in a way that riddles the brain, recalling the recent audio-visual work of Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Enter The Void. As grainy filters and flashy effects cover the screen, the video takes on a tone that recalls the track itself--aggressive yet thoughtful, modern with a time-tested core. Watch the video in its entirety below and stay tuned for more news as Action's April 7th release date draws near.
