Chloe x Halle celebrated the release of their debut album, The Kids Are Alright, by hosting a special event at our Okay Space Gallery in Brooklyn

You know the story.

In 2013, sisters Chloe and Halle Bailey uploaded a video where they covered Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts." The video gets on Bey's radar and she signs the sisters to her Parkwood label.

Years of work and development lead to the release of The Kids Are Alright, the 18 track debut from Chloe x Halle.

The album was released on Friday, March 23. To celebrate the release of the album, the sisters traveled to Brooklyn and hosted a special event at our Okay Space Gallery in Brooklyn.

There the sisters invited a small collection of diehard fans to screen The Kids Are Alrightfilm starring Moonlight actor Ashton Sanders. The short film features six songs from the album, including fan favorites like “Hi Lo,” “Everywhere,” and “Fake.”

After the screening of the film, the sisters sat down with Okayplayer Editor-in-Chief Rachel Hislop, for a short Q&A. The sisters talked about the making of the album, giving funny little anecdotes like how they made Goldlink change his verse on "Hi Lo." (Stop cursing, Goldlink!)

The event occurred a day before Halle's 18th birthday. In the middle of the discussion, the birthday girl was surprised with a chocolate (vegan) cake. It was an adorable moment. Stroll down to see photos of the event.

And don't forget to stream The Kids Are Alright, available on all major streaming services.
