The spitters take centerstage this Mixtape Monday with tributes to some of rap’s most biggest players landing alongside solid indie and underground projects.

MICK and Chi Duly pay tribute to Jay-Z and DJ Premier on the 7:18 mixtape. David Begun drops the sequel to his Nas and Quasimoto mashup tribute, entitled Nasimoto Vol. 2 and Knxwledge continues his latest tear, this time chronicling Meek Mill’s rise on the MEEK.VOL1_ tape.

The solo and group releases include projects from Von Pea & The Other Guys, One Be Lo, TiRon & Ayomari and Juelz White. Ohio MC Yaves teams with Taelor Gray and a handful of others on The Blackest Friday and Mark Ryan is still baked on Infrared.

MICK x Chi Duly - 7:18 - An Homage To Jay-Z and DJ Premier

MICK and Chi Duly team to answer Jay-Z’s 4:44 with a gritty NYC tribute to Hov and DJ Premier entitled 7:18.

What happens when you take Jay-Z’s most lyrical and personal verses & juxtapose them with DJ Premier’s most dark and precise works? The result is 7:18. This mixtape is a love letter to the hiphop we grew up listening to. This is for the people who grew up analyzing the b-side of every Gangstarr and Group Home single. This is for the people who listened to Jay’s “A Million And One Questions” a million and one times. This is music you should only listen to wearing Carhartt jackets and wheat Timbs. Do not listen to this album at a beach under a palm tree. This is music for a cold, grey day. Preferably enjoyed in a 1994 white Lexus. This is raw and uncut Brooklyn hiphop in it’s prime. A tribute to two of the best who ever did it, and in a way only we could bring it to you. We hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
