STS x Khari Mateen - Horror Movie
Halloween is upon us and STS (Sugar Tongue Slim) & Khari Mateen have provided the perfect song for the night's festivities with their new track "Horror Movie." What opens with eerie sounds, pianos and twisted pitched down vocals gives way to a beautiful blend of soulful yet dark strings and drums. Then Mateen's luscious vocals and cautionary lyrics suddenly creep in, "Ghouls and goblins/ Devils and heathens/ I'm in your nightmares/ I'll be there when your dreaming/ Beware of my love/ Be scared of my love..." The love song hidden in a halloween themed track cleverly covers all bases with STS' bars referencing classic horror movie characters such as Chuckie and Freddy Krueger. The track explores love gone awry, "Girl I got your number, I know what you did last spring or was it summer?" It's not only the perfect track for all them halloween festivities you and your folks might get involved in tonight but it's just a damn good song in general. The two musicians, who are known for their collaborations with The Roots and RJD2, are in the final stages of completing an album.
