"I Keep on Doing Me" - Kaytranada on Developing His Signature Sound

Though his 2017 has been comparatively quiet stacked against last year's MVP run, Kaytranada's hardly lifted his foot from the pedal. He's contributed to projects from GoldLink, Mary J. Blige, Nick Murphy and Wiki, commencing the year with a bubbly remix of NAO's "Get To Know Ya."

Prolific as the year's been, the producer's only offered a handful of glimpses at his inner-workings. In an intimate visit to Kaytra's Montreal home, Complex caught up with the producer and offered a rare peek into the laboratory that helmed his full-length debut, 99.9%; his parent's basement. Sitting with the producer in his studio, a candid chat ensues, reaching back to formative moments in early career, recounting the sounds and sights that shaped him and revealing aspirations of directing and scoring films down the line. We even hear from Kay's mom and two sisters, along with little brother and frequent collaborator, Lou Phelps.
