People and Things Already Putting Twitter's 280 Characters to Good Use
After a trial run with select users, Twitter has officially expanded its allotted character count to 280 for all users, nearly doubling the original 142-character staple.
With the amendment, many have expressed concern over the loss of the platform's hallmark brevity. And while no one wants to see Twitter turn into the next MySpace, or worse, Facebook, there are already signs of real measurable good being done in 142-plus digits. Sure, most are just references to iconic moments and lines, but others use the new space to announce a watershed political shift, underscore the absurdity of the Soundcloud generation, or, in the case of one famous writer, shrug off Twitter's roomier feel altogether.
We've gathered them all for you here. Scroll on to see how good 280 characters can be and hit us with your favorites in the comment section.
