Video: Dirty Projectors "Gun Has No Trigger"
Dirty Projectors drops some visuals (and some knowledge-gems) to go with their excellent jam "Gun Has No Trigger." Director Dave Longstreth breaks it down thus:
"GUN HAS NO TRIGGER is about the possibility for true dissent, and how I can't figure out what that could be. What is a 2012 Exodus from the Society of the Spectacle (to mix language Situationist and Rastafari)? So we made a video from the iconography of the default profile image used by Facebook and Gmail, and also the look of the classic Apple iPod commercials. The colors in the background are the ones I think of when I hear the harmonies of Amber and Haley (via experimental synesthesia). Enjoy!!"
This is off their forthcoming LP, titled Swing Lo Magellan and coming out July 10 on Domino records. The song is available on Domino's site as a single in the form of the "Gun Has No Trigger Tablet of Values" 8" square vinyl platter--featuring an etching of the lyrics translated into Sumerian Akkadian Cuneiform by Dr. M. Willis Monroe on the b-side (See after the jump. Please note--that's Akkadian cuneiform. Do not try to holler at a Sumerian girl with these ideograms--no, no, no!) Also, my unofficial "Gun Has No Trigger"/"Trigger Gots No Heart" mashup contest is hereby concluded with zero respondents (sad-face).
