Underachievers Evermore
Brooklyn-based duo The Underachievers have been prepping Evermore: The Art of Duality for quite some time, and now the entire LP may be streamed in full, over a week ahead of its official release date. The early listen comes, as per usual, from NPR. Rap brothers-in-arms AK and Issa Gold have opened themselves up, spiritually, on the new disc, ruminating on life, individuality and what it means to find your own place in the world. "Blessed to see a new day / young Indigos 'round the world, they relate / spreadin' the word, now we all gon' be straight / if we go and unite then we all could be great" we hear Gold spit on "Brooklyn Way," a song that, very appropriately, makes it its mission to spread love.
Production credits on Evermore include the likes of Ashton Benz, Nick Léon and Lucas Savo, and across the album's 15 tracks we're treated to beats both liquid smooth and bone dry. This is an album that tries to capture the human condition in its best and worst moments; for a bold undertaking, The Underachievers deserve some extra credit.
