Stream YG's New Mixtape 'Red Friday'
It has only been a few months since YG dropped one of the best albums of 2016, but the West Coast rhymer released another project this weekend.
Red Friday is YG's second record of the year. The mixtape is a concise seven songs (plus a brief, seven-second intro), and includes guest appearances from RJ, 21 Savage, and Mitch. The album is a follow-up to his critically-acclaimed July release Still Brazy, which was anchored by the single "FDT" (which stands for Fuck Donald Trump) and made Okayplayer's Mid-Year Musings as one of the best of 2016.
The intro of Red Friday announces the upcoming release of the third installment of YG's Just Re Up'd mixtape series with DJ Ill Will and DJ Mustard. In September, DJ Mustard announced that he and YG would release a new project called 400 Summers. The project would be the duo's first since they disputed and made up after My Krazy Life, YG's breakout 2014 album that was primarily produced by Mustard. It's still unclear on whether Red Friday or Just Re Up'd 3 are substitutes for 400 Summers, or separate projects altogether. But "Get Out Yo Feelin's" and "Down Bitch" are both produced by Mustard.
YG is currently on the Fuck Donald Trump Tour with RJ, Kamaiyah and Sad Boy. Tidal will host a live stream of his show in Oakland, Calif. on Monday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. pacific time/11 p.m. eastern standard time with the aforementioned artists, along with Slim400 and DJ Vision.
