Legendary percussionist Sheila E. recently paid a visit to The Smithsonian Institution's Museum of African Art ahead of a show at The Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. During her stop, she sat in on a drum circle with the Farafina Kan Youth Ensemble and stopped to chat about her life in music. Her latest ventures include penning her autobiography, playing upcoming shows and planning a possible country album. Having produced one country song, she feels the urge to dive a little deeper and has reportedly been trying to talk Garth Brooks into hitting the studio to work on a collaborative project. Only time will tell if she succeeds in convincing him to step back into the booth. In the meantime, she is busy putting the final touches on a joint album with Chaka Khan. This is a collaborative project that seems long overdue. If their respective catalogs and talents are any indicator, this joint promises to be dope. Keep your eyes peeled for more from Sheila E.
