Sharon Jones Returns With New Spotify Session Performance

Sharon Jones Returns With Live Spotify Session, Video Performance

Sharon Jones Spotify Session Live Large

It’s been far too long since the radiant voice of Sharon Jones has graced our digital pages, and so it’s with genuine joy that we bring you news of the Daptone Records headmistress’s new performance, which was recorded live at the offices of Spotify. Backed by an all-star band that included The Tedeschi Trucks Band (the collective venture of married guitar wonder-couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks), blues guitar phenom Doyle Bramhall II and, of course, some of her trusty Dap Kings bandmates.

Billed as a “wake up” performance (it must be safe to assume this was a very early-in-the-day session), it packs more guitar talent than any streaming service would seemingly have bandwidth for. But then, Ms. Jones is the star of the show as always, and with fluid dance moves and nimble vocal bends the singer appears to have fully recovered from her frightening bout with cancer. The entire ensemble, meaning Sharon Jones & The Dapkings, Bramhall and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, are currently out on tour together under the heading Wheels of Soul. Check out a full list of tour dates for that must-catch bill below (tickets here), watch the supergroup perform “She Ain’t A Child No More,” and listen to their full live Spotify session, a true seven track treat, after the jump.
