Rush Midnight aka Russ Manning aka Twin Shadow's right-hand man is not the long lost little brother of Peyton and Eli. Rather, this Manning totes a deep funk in his bones, laying it all on the (bass) line in a manner that is akin to his bandmate, yet somehow drives endlessly further towards the left-of-center end of the spectrum. His self-titled debut LP ain't nothing to sleep on, as it boasts some of the most polished takes on sophisticated r&b this side of Zapp and is simply a must-hear for true-schoolers and new-schoolers alike. Rush Midnight's self-titled debut drops May 27th via iTunes, but you can stream the album ahead of its release below. Be sure to keep your heads up, I've got a sneaking suspicion that we'll be hearing plenty more Rush soon.
