Tomorrow, Smoke DZA and Pete Rock will release the much-anticipated collaborative album Don't Smoke Rock. The album will mark the first full project PR has produced with another rapper since working with CL Smooth in the early-to-mid-nineties. Earlier this week, SPIN published a lengthy profile on the production powerhouse and his former collaborator that concluded with the promise of a long overdue follow-up to their sophomore classic The Main Ingredient.
Then this morning, PR dropped another anvil off the Eiffel with the announcement of a new and "awesome" Pete Rock & CL Smooth album arriving in 2017. You read that correctly: The return of Mecca and The Soul Brother is upon us. The album would mark their first in nearly 25 years, and though virtually nothing else has been revealed about the release, it is most certainly time to get excited. You can watch Smoke DZA and Pete Rock's full Breakfast Club interview down below. If you've yet to pick up their Don't Smoke Rock LP, hit up iTunes today and secure your copy. Stay tuned as more details on the new album arrive in the weeks and months ahead.
