OKP Premiere: MoZaic Struts Her Atmospheric Soul On The 'Unexpected Turns' EP

We gave y'all a taste of what Floridian funkstress MoZaic was cooking back in July when we premiered her atmospheric soul offering "Run Back" off the forthcoming Unexpected Turns EP. Today we have the pleasure of bringing you the full treatment of her sophomore effort with a stream of the impressive nine-track romp through generations of r&b, funk & soul. The EP commences with a slow-burning, spacey "Prologue" that ushers in the knocking swing of "BLVD" and the celestial "Run Back" single.

Things take a marked change in pace at the halfway point with a suffocating, fuzzy guitar-driven ballad like "No Air" and the triumphant title-track, giving us a taste of some her more boom-bap oriented influences. The result is something wholly unique that borrows textures from the left-field without being subject to its melancholy madness, blending the mellifluous jeep-beat sentiments of J Dilla and powerful vocal layering reminiscent of some of our finest entries into the neo-soul realm.  All in all, MoZaic seems poised to bypass ripples altogether, making seismic waves with frequencies that are sure to put the stank on your face. Get acuainted with the cosmic sonics of MoZaic and her Unexpected Turns EP below and keep it locked for the official release next week on November 4th.
