Leon Bridges Hits Vintage B&W Perfection In The New Video For "Better Man"

It's not so often that an artist comes along that truly sounds as if they've stepped out of another era. Many bands and singers (and let's be honest, plenty of MCs) claim to be first and foremost old school, but there's a fine line between being an homage and being one's real, honest self and the modern artists that sound "classic" are truly few and far between. The young Leon Bridges is one of those musicians, however, that radiates timelessness with every note, his warm vocals and bright, sparse guitar work recalling Sam Cooke, Nat Cole and the earliest Motown releases. And in his new music video for "Better Man," just about everything does the past justice.

From the wardrobe to the soft black and white color scheme, "Better Man" is a clip that, were it not shot in sheeny HD, would have us thinking we'd somehow traveled back to 1961. (The cowboy hats might at first seem a little strange, but bear in mind that young bnadleader is a born and raised Texan.) Watch the video below and be on the lookout for Leon Bridges's debut LP, Coming Home, which drops June 23rd.
