Watch Jon Stewart's Takeover Of WWE SummerSlam

Jon Stewart WWE Summerslam

Jon Stewart played a brief but vibrant role in Sunday night's WWE Summerslam, "hosting" the event from center ring at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Those hosting duties, it turned out, amounted to a raucous opening speech, a bit of backstage interviewing and, thankfully, a bit of chair-toting action betwixt the turnbuckles. "I've spent the last 16 years talking about politics—it's nice to be back in reality," Stewart's said as he opened SummerSlam toting a grizzled beard and the look of a man having the absolute time of his life.

Dedicated WWE fans were delighted as Stewart brought out wrestling legend Mick Foley (aka Mankind) during his opening remarks. Later, Stewart and his son were seen in clips hob-nobbing with wrestlers back stage, stacking up autographs and insinuating that the signatures may be headed to an ebay auction near you someday soon. Additional hijinks included a whole lot to do with the Undertaker and John Cena; we're sure it all made sense to those watching on Pay-Per-View.

The night climaxed as Stewart ran to the ring during the final title match, delivering a metal chair to Cena's abdomen and drastically shifting the outcome of all of SummerSlam. Many are speculating that the former Comedy Central host might be featured in future wrestling broadcasts--perhaps even as early as tonight's Monday Night Raw. Watch videos from the event below.
