Those that have kept with John Mayer on Instagram or Snapchat, know the bluesman is readying something fierce for this fall. And while we'll have to wait for that big reveal until further notice, it should be stated that his forthcoming album is slated to host a reunion of The John Mayer Trio, comprised of Steve Jordan, mythical bass sage, Pino Paladino and himself, of course.
Last night, Mayer made it painfully clear that his time on the road celebrating the legacy of the Grateful Dead with the surviving members of the psychedelic pioneers, paid off damn-well, as he took the stage with Jordan and Thundercat in the place of Pino, treating LA's Hotel Cafe to an exceptionally-live surprise show. And the crew certainly didn't disappoint, shedding on the funk, both cosmic and country, and even stepping into electrified cover of Donny Hathaway's classic "The Ghetto," which is available for your eyes and ears in the player just below, courtesy of the ever-revealing internets. Watch as John Mayer, Thundercat and Steve Jordan align their stars down below and head over to Periscope for even more clips from this momentous musical collision.
