One of the white supremacists involved in the attack on DeAndre Harris during the violent white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year, has been found guilty.

Jacob Scott Goodwin of Ward, Arkansas, was found guilty of malicious wounding on Tuesday, for his part in the attack of 20-year-old Harris, according to the Associated Press. The Jury, which was made up of nine women and three men, suggested a sentence of 10 years, with the option of suspending some of the time and a $20,000 fine.

The jury reportedly looked at three factors to reach a verdict: whether Goodwin caused bodily injury, if it was done with malice and if it was done with the intent to kill, harm or disfigure Harris.

Goodwin attempted to justify the attack in self-defense, saying that Harris charged at him after attacking Harold Crews, the North Carolina state chairman of the white-nationalist group League of the South.

"I was trying to neutralize a threat," Goodwin said. "[Harris] Came running at me from the right side, and fell down or tripped for some reason. So when he tried to get back up I kicked him because he was previously running towards me. I thought it was just me and Mr. DeAndre [sic]."

Goodwin is set to face sentencing August 23.

So far, Goodwin has been the only one sentenced in relation to the Harris attack. Michael Alex Ramos, Daniel Borden, and Tyler Watkins Daviswere all arrested shortly after the altercation took place.
