21 Savage's Management Says They Asked "Several Artists" to Perform on His Behalf at the GRAMMYs
21 Savage is currently being held without bond by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and was thus, unable to appear at this year's Grammys.
Despite arguably being the biggest story in music at the moment, mentioning of 21 was noticeably absent at the ceremony, save from Ludwig Göransson who commented on stage, "I really wish he was here right now because this is his vision and he deserves this credit. No matter where you’re born or what country you’re from you connect with ‘This Is America.’ It speaks to people, it connects right to your soul, it calls out injustice, it celebrates life, and reunites us all at the same time.”
One member of 21's management team, Kei Henderson revealed efforts to try and secure on-stage recognition at the show during Post Malone's performance of their collaboration track, "Rockstar."
She tweeted, "Someone from Epic sent me the photo of Post wearing the Savage tee before he performed. I appreciate the notion. Lord knows me, Meezy and our team attempted to solidify recognition for Savage during the performance of “Rockstar,” it just didn’t work out that way."
At another point, she wrote, "We reached out to several artists to perform Savage’s verse and/or stand in solidarity on stage on his behalf."
During the set, Malone wore a shirt that read, "21 Savage" under a jacket.

Meezy, another member of 21's management team clarified speculation on whether or not the camp was in attendance at Sunday's show, tweeting, "NOBODY from our camp attended Grammys... we were given tickets last minute before the show when it no longer mattered."
