Premiere: Listen to the First Trailer for 'The Conviction of Max B' Podcast

Gimlet Media and Spotify Original podcast Conviction will center incarcerated Harlem rapper Max B in its fourth season.

With Max B potentially being released from prison this year, an upcoming narrative form podcast will tell the Harlem rapper's story of incarceration. In partnership with Spotify, Gimlet Media podcast series Conviction will premiere their fourth season next Tuesday (January 17), titled The Conviction of Max B. Centering the former Dipset affiliate, the 5-episode season will be narrated by journalist and media personality Brandon "Jinx" Jenkins.

“I hope when people listen to this show, they're able to grapple with the conflict many of our favorite artists live in and the shades of grey when it comes to stories, celebrity, and fandom, Jinx said in a statement. "We've kind of become a partisan culture. You know, like this or that, fire or trash, 'stan' or hater. As a Max B fan, this story made me have to contend with both his amazing artistic legacy and his life beyond music.”

Here's the official synopsis:

Max B was a Harlem rapper on the brink of stardom. But one night he gets wind of a bag full of cash that’s sitting in an empty hotel room. And he starts scheming. It would be an easy score – in and out, no one gets hurt. But it doesn’t go down like that. It all ends in chaos, kidnapping and a dead body. This is the story of a rapper who risked it all for a bag full of money, a robbery where everything went wrong, a messy trial, and a sentence that makes you question who the justice system works for, and who it works against.

The Conviction of Max B is set to premiere January 17 on Spotify.
