The two may make a cameo though.
Looks like Lil Yachty won't be starring alongside Method Man and Redman for How High 2. A new report from TMZ says that Meth and Red weren't cast for the film but notes that the pair could make a cameo in the sequel or in a potential trilogy.
Yachty will play the character Roger, the younger brother of one of the protagonists from the original film. According to a description from MTV, Roger and his friend go "on a magical hash-fueled journey to fund their on-demand munchies delivery start-up."
The made-for-TV-film will be different from the original considering that it's rated PG-13 and stances on marijuana have changed significantly since How High's release in 2001. Filming for the movie began last week in Atlanta.
Rapper DC Young Fly will also star in the movie. Yachty will also be executive producing the film alongside Kevin "Coach K" Lee, Pierre "Pee" Thomas, and Brian Sher for Quality Control.
How High 2 being filmed in Atlanta is ironic. Earlier this year, Meth referred to the city as "the new New York."
"Down South is way bigger than just New York, and we were basing everything off just New York," the rapper said in an interview with the Daily Beast. "I remember Andre 3000 at the Source Awards, they got booed and he said, 'All I know is that the South got something to say.' I think that was like a calling to all artists down South to say, 'You know what? We don't need those muthaf**kas up there. They're arrogant as fuck, and there's more of us down here.'"
