Looks Like 'Venom 3' is in the Works

In an Instagram post, actor Tom Hardy shared an image of the Venom 3 script, co-written by himself and Kelly Marcel.

Venom is back in action. On Thursday (June 16), actor Tom Hardy went to Instagram and surprised fans of the Sony Pictures series with a Venom 3 script co-written by himself and screenwriter Kelly Marcel. The image shows a drawn graphic of the titular character over the script title, while the cover reads "Story by Tom Hardy & Kelly Marcel."

Although comments on the post have been limited and Hardy hasn't revealed much else, the news comes at conformation to Marvel Cinematic Universe fans after Cinemacon in April. At the event, which was held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the film's logo was shown in a brief clip, according to Deadline. After the success of second film Let There Be Carnage, producer Amy Paschal confirmed to IGN last year that the third film is underway. Released in 2021, Venom: Let There Be Carnage has the second-best film opening of the pandemic with $90 million in the US.

Erik Sommers, writer for Spider-Man: No Way From Home, hinted that there could be a Spider-Man and Venom crossover.

“It leaves the door open for possibilities,” Sommers said. “As opposed to just seeing him go back and not seeing any symbiote. So, it just allows for some exciting possibilities in the future.”

While former Venom director Ruben Fleischer didn't revealed a return to the series, he agreed with Sommers' thoughts on bringing Spider-Man to the third film.

"We’ll have to see. I mean, it would be honestly a dream come true to have those two worlds converge," Fleischer told CinemaBlend. "It’ll be a formidable battle between those two characters, so… whether or not I direct it, I’ll certainly be excited to see it."
