Revivalist Audio: DOOM x Robert Glasper Experiment - "Figaro" & "Rhinestone Cowboy" Live At iTunes Fest
The thing with Doom, in case you guys haven't figured it out yet, is that metalface is a state of mind that can fit over any face really--hence the infinite recombinations it has spawned; JJ DOOM, MA_DOOM, DOOM STARKS et al--like a b-boy version of the Mask from that Jim Carrey movie. But there is definitely something about the Doom's performances with Robert Glasper Experiment that radiate extra gamma waves--as if the power of the live ensemble was able to connect somehow with what's left of Daniel Dumile ("he's more machine now than man") underneath the iron visage. Case in point: this sublime collaboration from the iTunes festival the other day, comprising "Figaro" and "Rhinestone Cowboy" courtesy of the jazzy fat nicies at Revivalist (and oh sh*t, FunkIt Blog, they get props, too). Stream below and pay special attention to the words "coming soon: DOOM & Glasper..." at about 5:40.
