Watch Brooklyn Congressman Hakeem Jeffries Recite Biggie's "Juicy" on The House Floor

Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of The Notorious B.I.G.'s death. Tributes were seen and heard in all corners of the world, taking on many shapes. But the one place that unquestionably misses him most is his hometown of Brooklyn, specifically that the meaty mid-section of Ft. Greene and Bed-Stuy that claims him. In Biggie's honor, the Fulton St. grocery he worked at as a child gave out dedicated paper bags stenciled with the rapper's iconic cock-eyed bust. Local galleries, like The Bishop, have toasted to the local hero with exhibits.

But it wasn't just hometown that celebrated. Brooklyn-Queens Congressman Hakeem Jenkins (a Crown Heights native) was also feeling particularly compelled to salute the late legend, reciting the opening lines from "Juicy" on the House floor with a few warm words on his legacy and impact in the 8th congressional district. You can watch that below. For a fitting audio fix, jump back to hear the third installment of J. Period's March 9th mixtape.
