Watch Wale Perform a Six-Song Medley for NPR's Tiny Desk

The Maryland MC performed singles from his debut album as well as his latest.

October 30th was a huge night for the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. That night, local council member Kenyan McDuffie pushed for the City Council to make go-go the official music for the District of Columbia. The Washington Nationals clinched their first World Series title. Additionally, native son Wale hit the nearby NPR offices for his first Tiny Desk performance.

Joined by go-go group UCB, who now serves as his touring band and goes by Tre and the Ppl, Wale performed six tracks in total. The setlist moved in chronological order. He kicked the celebration off with "Lotus Flower Bomb," the Grammy-nominated hit single from his sophomore album Ambition. The track is Wale's second-most successful single, peaking at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. Waka Flocka's "No Hands," which features Wale and Roscoe Dash, is technically the Maryland rapper's most successful. The club banger peaked at number 13 back in 2011.

Subsequently, he followed up with fan favorites like "LoveHate Thing" from the 2013 album Gifted, "CC White" from Shine, and UCB's "Sexy Lady." The last two tracks of his set, "Sue Me" and "On Chill," are from his most recent work, Wow...That's Crazy. "On Chill" peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts back in October.

Wale's backing band is made up of vocalist Walker "Tre" Johnson, drummers Jerry Venable and Eric Curry. Glenn Cobb plays the keyboard, while Daniel Bennet and Stanley Thompson play bass guitar and lead guitar, respectively.

Wow...That's Crazy is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
