Mary J. Blige & The Roots Perform a Powerful Rendition of “Love Yourself” on ‘Fallon Tonight’

Days after Mary J. Blige released her excellent new album Strength of a Woman, the legendary singer took her talents to the late night circuit. She hit the stage of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Love Yourself.”

The studio version of the song features Kanye West. Ye wasn’t there. However, Mary got some assistance from The Roots, who did their own rendition of the soulful track.

It’s a great, mostly understated performance, with the emphasis being on Mary and her vocals. (The Roots and the band are hidden in the shadows for most of the performance.)
