Tucked away in Highland Park, one of hip-hop’s most cherished label’s has erected an altar. Well, at least that. A few months back, Stones Throw announced that it had finally opened its own studio in LA; a move many assumed had already taken place, but was only just completed mid-way through last year. Now it’s open to the public and booking sessions, which means it’s finally time to get a glimpse at its inner-workings and newly-established production HQ .
Thankfully, the good people at The Vinyl Factory brought a crew in to document some in-session moments from both storied and newfound additions to the Stones Throw team. You’ll find Egyptian Lover tinkering with drum machines and vintage synthesizers, Karriem Riggins utilizing the space for injury-inducing practices and recent signee, Sudan Archives, at work on her label debut with producer, Matthewdavid.
Take a tour of the newly-opened Stones Throw Studios with head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf, Egyptian Lover, Karriem Riggins and more in the clip below. Head over to the label’s site to keep up with their output and maybe even cop a few gems. Hit the link for booking info.
