Watch: MTV + BET Talk Police Brutality During Town Hall

The events of this week demand reflection first and then action. Regularly scheduled programming on MTV, BET, and other Viacom networks was cancelled tonight for a conversation on the most recent and high profile cases of police brutality, the killings of 37 year-old Alton Sterling in Baton Rogue, Louisiana and 32-year-old Philando Castile in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota, in addition to the shoot out in Dallas, Texas.

The town hall was moderated by Marc Lamont Hill, who is getting a new late night show on VH1, Jamil Smith a Senior National Correspondent at MTV NewsCharlamagne Tha God a TV & radio personality who co-hosts The BreakfastClub, and Franchesca Ramsey who is an actress, comedian, activists, television and YouTube personality.

Rapper and President of G.O.O.D. Music Pusha T, who was the first guest of the town hall, said over a video call that he didn't think the problem of police brutality would end until the police themselves are policed. He also touched on the lack of police voices speaking on issues of police brutality, a kind of blue wall of silence. Even U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch phoned in to contribute to the somber conversation.
