Check Out the Trailer for 'Lovecraft Country,' Jordan Peele's New HBO Series

The series will arrive on HBO sometime in August.

Fresh off the success of Us and the Amazon Prime series Hunters, Jordan Peele is executive producing another supernatural project. On Friday, HBO released the first official trailer for its upcoming series Lovecraft Country. Peele produced the show, along with showrunner Misha Green, J.J. Abrams, Bill Carraro, and more. Watch the full trailer above.

Lovecraft Country is an on-screen adaptation of Matt Ruff's novel of the same name. As the show's official description reads, "the series follows Atticus Freeman as he joins up with his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback."

Jonathan Majors--star of The Last Black Man in San Francisco--plays Vietnam vet Atticus Freeman, while Courtney B. Vance plays his uncle, George. Jurnee Smollett-Bell plays Letitia Dandridge, while Michael Kenneth Williams plays Atticus' missing father.

The series will arrive on HBO at some point in August. Learn more about the show on HBO's official site. Peele's long-anticipated remake of Candyman will arrive shortly afterward on September 25.

Afemme, Incorporated produced the series along with Bad Robot and Monkeypaw Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
