Giveon Reflects on Love & Heartbreak in New Visual for "Favorite Mistake"

The acoustic-themed video features the Long Beach-bred artist reflecting on a late-night car ride.

Giveon reveals a new video for his emotional track “Favorite Mistake.” The acoustic-themed song gets a fitting visual featuring the California singer.

Throughout the clip, he takes a late-night ride in a vintage car as he reflects on an ongoing affair. “Favorite Mistake” was a standout on his debut EP Take Time which arrived back in March. The song explores his extensive feelings on his lover who he feels he has to eventually cut loose. A love shrouded in secrets and deceit won’t last long and Giveon makes that clear throughout “Favorite Mistake.”

The Long Beach-bred artist burst into the mainstream after appearing on Drake’s surprise single “Chicago Freestyle.” Prior to this feature, he independently released “Garden Kisses,” his first single in 2018, “Fields” followed a few months later.

In a previous interview, he shared his mother pushed him to explore his love for music at a young age. He also expressed he gained confidence in his baritone voice after discovering Frank Sinatra. Sinatra inspired him and he later would also be inspired by Billy Caldwell and Barry White.

Take Time is a culmination of Giveon dedicating himself to his craft: music-making. The release is filled with lyrics exploring his headspace as he copes with love and damaging relationships. It’s also a love letter to the coastal city in California that he calls home. Recently, he dropped a visual for “The Beach, ahead of the release of that music video the “Like I Want You” clip was unveiled.
