Janelle Monáe Performs At New York Fashion Week 2013 For Rebecca Minkoff

What an extremely beautiful surprise to see our favorite Electric Lady Janelle Monáe performing during New York Fashion Week at the Rebecca Minkoff's show over the weekend. From a singular artistic performance to a stunning collection, Minkoff & Co. gathered all the elements and ingredients to ensure your amazement at the impressive confection that was her Spring 2014 runway show.  One thing is for sure, we know that to be dressed in an all-white, head-to-toe fierce outfit will be one of the major trends for Spring/Summer 14. The vibe of the show and the prevalence of bold blacks, whites and reds made it an obvious and perfect choice to have the ever-bold Janelle onstage delivering an electric and remarkable show. The contrast between the energetic band and the gracious models sporting Minkoff's collection was striking.

According to Style, the collection was inspired by strong Latin American women like Frida Kahlo, Bianca Jagger and Alice Dellal. You'll notice the tall gladiator's sandals enhancing the woman's silhouette and legs. Flowers prints for a Spring collection could be obsolete/ déjà-vu or such an easy choice but Minkoff's genius is how she's staging it on the fabric and piece. On top of that, she presented structured biker jackets, leather pieces, transparency on the thighs and once again this week, we'll find a balance between classic and casual, which achieves the ever-sough-after "I didn't really try but I look so good" effect. Definitely one of our favorite runway shows of the week, you can scroll through the gallery above and watch the video below (and purchase Janelle Monáe's new album The Electric Lady LP via iTunes).
