Sacramento Kings & Boston Celtics Players Honor Stephon Clark Before Game

“Accountability. We are one.”

On Sunday afternoon, players from the Sacramento Kings and the Boston Celtics honored the life of Stephon Clark: the 22-year-old unarmed black man killed by police last week.

Members of both teams wore black t-shirts referencing Clark. On the front of the shirt there was “Accountability. We are one.” On the back was “#StephonClark.”

The players wore the shirts during the game’s warm ups before tipoff. At the beginning of the game, the Celtics and the Kings’ social media accounts sent out a public service video featuring the players calling for unity.

The video also played on the jumbotron before the game. At one point, in the video, Celtics center Al Horford said “We will not shut up and dribble,” in reference to what Fox News personality Laura Ingraham told LeBron James. While Kings player Justin Jackson said “We matter.”

This show of solidarity came days after protesters blocked the entrance to the Kings arena Golden 1 Center.
