One of the biggest names in music, Top Dawg Entertainment, is getting into the sports agency business, as Derrius Guice announced his intent on joining the label’s sports division.

Top Dawg Entertainment is starting off 2018 by demolishing any and all obstacles. The West Coast rap label, which represents SZA, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar, announced Friday, Jan. 19, that it has gone into the sports agency business by signing former LSU running back Derrius Guice.

“They were the first guys who came to me, just like LSU was the first school to offer me a scholarship,” Guice said. “I didn’t forget that.” Guice, who admitted that he is big fan of Kendrick Lamar, said he liked the idea of being TDE Sports’ first and only client. “The focus is on me and my game plan, not on a ton of other guys,” Guice said. Founded in 2004 by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, the label represents eight artists and recently partnered with Disney and Marvel to curate the soundtrack for Black Panther, which hits theaters next month.

TDE’s sports division will be headquartered out of Los Angeles and led by veteran sports agent, Fadde Mikhail. “‘Top Dawg’ is a huge sports fan, and although he isn’t working in the business of sports, he is very familiar with it,” said Mikhail. “He had a phenomenal vision to start this company and is extending that into sports. Guice, who ran for more than 2,500 yards and scored 26 touchdowns, follows the trend of high-profile running back being represented by non-traditional agencies.

Most recently, Saquon Barkley signed on to be represented by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.
