Brooklyn Nets player Kevin Durant has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The news was reported by The Athletic contributor Shams Charania on his Twitter account.
“Kevin Durant tested positive for coronavirus, Durant tells @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium,” Charania tweeted. “Durant says he is feeling fine: ‘Everyone be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine. We’re going to get through this.'”
“Durant has not had symptoms and was among four positive test results on the Nets. The two-time NBA Finals MVP’s message is one for everyone to heed: Stay quarantined,” Charania said in a follow-up tweet.
The news comes just as the Nets have released a statement saying four of its players tested psoitive for the coronavirus. Durant is among those four that tested positive.
Durant is now the fourth NBA player to test positive for the virus. Prior to him was Detroit Pistons player Christian Wood, as well as Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell.
The NBA suspended the season after Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus. Gobert’s positive test result was reported right before the Jazz was set to play the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. (Gobert was not in the arena before the game; according to reports, he was feeling fine and ready to play.)
